‘Healthy people, healthy family and healthy society’ is the key to keep India ahead. As part of the ‘Fit India Movement’ which was launched by the Honourable Prime Minister on August 29, 2019, Bhavan Vidyalya Chandigarh celebrated FIT INDIA SCHOOL WEEK from 18th November 2019 to 23rd November 2019.
The week long fitness mission in the school focused on inculcating fitness regime amongst students and teachers. Following are the highlights of week long fitness activities:
Yoga Session: All the students along with their teachers rejuvenated by performing simple yog asanas and a meditation session. Long term benefits of the asanas were explained.
Marching Session: Students are regularly practicing marching as a activity to develop co-ordination and discipline
Free Hand Exercises: Drill involving various free hand exercises was performed by the students which help in building strong teamwork, discipline and cooperative behaviour.
Martial Art: Apart from the moves that develop fitness of students, self defence methods were taught in the martial art session.
Cycling Tour: The students went on guided cycling tour around the school. It proved to be a great experience where fitness and fun went hand in hand.
Tracking Trails: The students got an opportunity to go beyond the four walls of the school when they were taken out for tracking. They learnt endurance, perseverance and persistence during the tracking event.
Outdoor Games: Students and teacher enjoyed challenging one another in various outdoor games like badminton, cricket and basket ball. Healthy sportsmanship qualities were promoted.
