Cyclothon

Cyclothons are a regular feature at the school and are symbolic of the Bhavan way of life. The aim is to bring students together to learn from and celebrate our heritage.It brings the best of health, a sense of community and also meets the larger aims of creating awareness about environment conservation and reducing carbon footprint.

The school commemorated some landmark moments in history with the following events:

  • Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh had organised a first of its kind Cyclothon- ‘Maitree 2023’ from Chandigarh to Kathmandu, themed ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. This unique endeavour began on 27th May, 2023, when 17 students and 5 teachers  were flagged off by Shri R.K. Saboo, Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh Kendra.
    Over the course of twelve days, these determined students and teachers covered a staggering distance of 1300 kilometres on their cycles. As messengers of peace, these young children aspire to contribute their part in making the world a more harmonious and beautiful place to live in. MAITREE 2023 Cyclothon marked the fifth expedition
     
    With the successful culmination of this eventful journey on 8th June, the students returned to BVC campus where they received a hearty welcome by Shri R.K. Saboo, Chairman of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh Kendra, Mr. Madhukar Malhotra, Secretary Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Chandigarh Kendra, Mrs Vineeta Arora, Director Education cum Senior Principal and other senior staff members.
  • A unique and noble initiative to commemorate the centenary of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, a team of 41 enthusiastic students along with 8 teachers went on a cycling expedition to Amritsar.
  • As a part of the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Gandhiji 27 students and 4 teachers cycled from Dandi to Surat cognizing the values the Mahatma stood for.
  • The school cycling club organised a trip to Siswan wildlife sanctuary followed by a trek. Students cycled a distance of 30 kms to reach the exotic destination.
